I can't think of a better way to relax and de-stress in the lead up to Christmas than sitting among the vines at the stunning Black Ban Vineyards listening to Sol3 Mio.
The incredibly talented trio, brothers Pene and Amitai Pati and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay, always deliver a powerful and moving show.
They are extending their traditional end of year concert season with an eight-date tour in December 2017 and January 2018, celebrating Christmas and the beloved Kiwi summer.
They will be performing Christmas In The Vines at Black Barn on December 21.
I spoke with Amitai via phone from San Francisco.
He said he was really looking forward to the tour. "It's been 12 months since we have all been in New Zealand so I can't wait," he said.
"I always look forward to coming home. I've been really blessed, I've travelled the world but you just can't compare anywhere in the world to New Zealand.
"We have a beautiful young country and growing up in New Zealand was very different to growing up anywhere else.
"Everybody here talks about it and wants to there. I certainly would never want to call anywhere else home."
He said although he would be "working" when he was home there would be time to spend with family.
"For me Christmas is about spending time with family, having everyone around, young and old. I've missed everyone."
At the Black Barn Concert people can expect to hear some new material from the trio.
"It's all classic but people keep asking for old songs," he laughed.
"We will work some new material in and see what the audience think. It will be summer so the vibe will be relaxed and chilled."
They will perform their signature mix of opera arias, traditional songs, a selection of hits from their albums, and everyone's favourite Christmas carols.
He said he was looking forward to coming to Hawke's Bay and performing at Black Barn - "It's a sunning outdoor venue".
He said it can be a challenge staying healthy while on tour but the "performances are what we look forward to. The most nerve-wracking moment is walking out on stage." And his favourite song to sing _ Yellow Bird. With their unique sound and humour this is sure to be an excellent evening.
■Before heading home Sol3 Mio will be performing at the War Memorial Opera House stage in San Francisco for a special holiday concert on December 1.
■Tickets: Ticketmaster and Black Barn.
