GALAX and Gainward add Resizable BAR support on RTX 3000 series GPUs

GALAX and Gainward, the two sub-brands of Nvidia graphics cards under Palit Microsystems, have released Video BIOS (VBIOS) updates for the RTX 30-series cards. The new update is significant as it adds support for the Resizable BAR feature to its cards. The VBIOSes are available on the Chinese websites of the respective companies and you can download them by browsing to the individual cards' "BIOS DOWNLOAD" section using a translator like Google's if you aren't too familiar with Chinese. All the RTX 3000 cards that have released so far, barring the RTX 3060, have received the update. This means the RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, and 3060 Ti can be updated.

It is noteworthy that your motherboard BIOS and your GeForce graphics card driver must also be up to date or at least have the version that carries the PCIe Resizable BAR support. For example, AMD added support for the feature with AGESA version 1.2.0.0.

The PCIe Resizable BAR function allows the CPU to have full access to the entire memory of the GPU, whereas typically a processor can only address 256MB for compatibility with 32-bit OSes. As a result, thanks to the entire VRAM now being available, requests from the CPU can be queued up parallelled instead of sequentially, which in turn improves the speed of their dispatch.
