Take a look at this huge woodland playground that's just opened at a glorious stately home in the Peak District. Chatsworth House is fun to visit any time of year, especially at Christmas when it is filled with trees and lights.

And now, it's even better for kids because there's an adventure playground in the farmyard that has towers and a huge Great Spotted Woodpecker to climb inside. Rope bridges connect the towers and children can use the 'flower phones' to chat from tower to tower.

There's also tunnels to crawl through, swings, a sand pit to dig, climbing frames and four slides to zoom down, including one that's more than 12 metres long. Kids can also compete on the racing slides or whirl down the spiral slide. There's also a coffee hut and picnic area.

There are accessible paths to the playground, which is on a hill above the farmyard where you can see pigs, horses, goats and guinea pigs. Inside the two towers, there are activity boards featuring a spinning pairs game and a bee celebration board which includes braille dominoes and other stimuli for visually-impaired visitors.

Photos of the new play area have been shared on the Chatsworth House Facebook page with the message: "Adventure awaits! Climb our giant towers for a birds eye view of the tree tops, venture along sky high rope bridges and zoom down shiny new slides.

"Discover games and activities inside the towers, from spinning pairs and braille dominoes to fun facts about bees - all accessible for everyone with our new pathways and ramp access. We can’t wait to welcome you. Get ready to let your imaginations run wild."

Families are already very excited, with some saying they can't wait to take their kids for the new adventure. Some say they remember when there was an adventure playground on the estate 40 years ago. Find out more and book tickets via the Chatsworth website.

On the website, a spokesman said: "Take the secret tunnel from the farmyard to our newly reopened woodland adventure playground. Tackle ladders or the climbing wall to ascend our tall towers for a bird's-eye view from among the tree-tops.

"Each tower is connected by rope bridges or a crawl tunnel with a raised platform at the centre. Communicate between the towers on the 'flower phone' before returning to ground level at speed with a choice of four slides; two racing slides, a spiral slide, or one that is over 12 metres long."
