KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is at the final stage of an investigation into Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) buying a hotel in Kuching, says its chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad.

On FIC buying a hotel in London, he said they would conduct further investigation on the matter after getting legal assistance in the United Kingdom (UK).

“We just did a documentation to apply for legal assistance in the UK through the Attorney General Chambers of Malaysia,” he said when met after attending Pemarah 3.0 Borneo programme in Universiti Malaysia (Unimas) here yesterday.

“We hope application on the legal assistance will come through. We hope to get more informations from UK in order to complete our investigation into the buying of a hotel by FIC at inflated prices in that country,” he added.

The case surfaced in the news at end of July, when MACC investigated Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) for its purchase of a London hotel for an allegedly inflated price, which also led to scrutiny of another hotel deal by the same company in Kuching that was also bought at  a price higher than the market value.

Earlier, Dzulkifli was also asked regarding a few ministries in the country suspected to be involved in corrupt practices and abuse of power.

He said MACC was still looking for more information on the matter, and would take  action after meeting with the Chief Secretary to the Government.
