The New GeForce RTX 3080: Don't Leave Home If you Have It

Get ready to stock up on food, water, coffee, soda and check the lock on your doors, your stay-at-home, sit-in-front-of-PC lives are about to hit championship level.

Flex those tired fingers of yours, and get set to work 24/7 with the new GeForce RTX 3080!

Just recently launched, the GeForce RTX 3080 is a cyborg workhorse powered by Ampere, NVIDIA’s 2nd gen RTX architecture. NVIDIA takes pride that its GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards feature faster 2nd gen Ray Tracing Cores, faster 3rd gen Tensor Cores, and new streaming multiprocessors -- bundled up to deliver bring stunning visuals, faster frame rates, and AI acceleration for livestreamers, gamers and creators.

While the pandemic wreaks havoc on our lives, the critical times have also brought the best out of livestreamers, gamers and creators who found themselves also grappling with their ever evolving peers and competitors.

Keep up or get left behind. Or better yet, get in there first!

Be informed that the GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs feature several world firsts: they’re the first gaming-class graphics cards with up to 24GB of new, blazing-fast GDDR6X VRAM; they’re the first GPUs with HDMI 2.1, for 4K high refresh rate and 8K gaming; they’re the first discrete GPUs with support for the AV1 codec, enabling you to watch high-resolution streams using significantly less bandwidth; and the Founders Edition cards are the first with innovative dual axial flow through cooling solutions.

Also, the GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs come packed with new technologies for esports competitors, livestreamers, creators, and gamers alike.

NVIDIA Reflex reduces system latency, providing split-second PC gaming responsiveness; NVIDIA Broadcast turns any room into a home broadcast studio with AI-enhanced video and voice comms; updates to NVIDIA DLSS make 8K HDR gaming a reality on the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card; and new NVIDIA Studio enhancements make creative applications run faster than ever before.

Hands down, you're looking at probably the world’s most powerful gaming graphics cards.

The NVIDIA Ampere architecture, the second generation of RTX GPUs, “is a giant leap in performance,” declared NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang during the well-attended virtual unveiling of the new GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. "It’s delivering NVIDIA’s “greatest generational leap in company history.”.

Huang stressed that, built on a custom 8N manufacturing process, the flagship GeForce RTX 3080 has 28 billion transistors. It connects to Micron’s new GDDR6X memory — the fastest graphics memory ever made."

The latest NVIDIA Ampere GPU architecture, on the other hand, was first touted to power the world’s supercomputers and hyperscale data centers. And now it has come to gaming.

In addition to the trio of new GPUs — the flagship GeForce RTX 3080, the GeForce RTX 3070 and the “ferocious” GeForce RTX 3090 — Huang  has introduced new tools for GeForce gamers.

They include NVIDIA Reflex — which makes competitive gamers quicker, NVIDIA Omniverse Machinima — for those using real-time computer graphics engines to create movies, and NVIDIA Broadcast — which harnesses AI to build virtual broadcast studios for streamers.

The RTX 3080 is the potent mix of fast performance and cutting-edge capabilities, designed for 4K gaming, and features high-speed GDDR6X memory running at 19Gbps.

The RTX 3070 hits the sweet spot of performance for games running with eye candy turned up.

Then there's the big, ferocious GPU -- the RTX 3090. It’s the fastest GPU ever built for gaming and creative types and is designed to power next-generation content at 8K resolution.

Partners from around the world, including ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac, will have custom cards on shelves alongside NVIDIA Founders Edition models. And select cards sold by participating retailers come bundled with Watch Dogs: Legion and a 1-year GeForce NOW Founder’s Subscription.

The Founders Edition GeForce graphics cards feature excellent cooling and stunning designs that make your PC a striking showcase. For the new GeForce RTX 30 Series, there's an innovative dual axial flow through cooling solution, featuring two fans - one at the left front, and another on the right rear that draws air through the card (the GeForce RTX 3070 flow through design differs slightly, with its fans both mounted on the top of the card).

As heat is drawn away from components into the hybrid vapor chamber, it is efficiently distributed across the length of the card and throughout the massive aluminum fin stack. The left fan pushes air heated by the fin stack out through extra-large GPU bracket vents, while the right fan draws the air towards the top chassis exhaust.

Acoustically, the new Founders Edition design is quieter than traditional dual axial coolers, while still delivering nearly 2x the cooling performance of previous generation solutions. The aforementioned NVLink and power design changes help here, creating more space for airflow through the largest fin stack seen to date, and the larger bracket vents improve airflow in concert with individually shaped shroud fins. In fact, wherever you look, every aspect of the Founders Edition cards are designed to maximize airflow, minimize temperatures, and enable the highest levels of performance with the least possible noise. So arm yourselves with any of the new GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs, lock up and get set to unload some serious firepower.
