Belarus to legalize parallel import of goods, software without rights holders' permission

MINSK. June 6 (Interfax) - Belarus will legalize parallel import, its government's press service stated on Saturday.

"The Council of Ministers' operational-situational task force has made a decision to draft a legal act which would legalize parallel import of goods and allow the use of software and other objects of the digital sphere without permission of rights holders," the statement said.

"This will make it possible for an original product to be imported not only by the intellectual property owner or their official distributor, but also by any importer," it said.

"This is a temporary measure to prevent shortage of foreign-made goods and to saturate the consumer market," the government said.
