This is the first time that IOI was held in-person and online after being held online for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Philippines won two bronze medals and one honorable mention at the 34th IOI, which held its awarding ceremony on Aug. 14.

Winning the country’s two bronze medals are Raphael Dylan Dalida and Frederick Ivan Tan, both students of the Philippine Science High School-Main Campus.

Dalida and Tan won bronze medals at IOI last year. Last July, Dalida took home a bronze medal at the 63rd International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Oslo, Norway.

Garnering an honorable mention at the 34th IOI is Cassidy Kyler Tan, a student of Ateneo de Manila Senior High School.

The other Filipino contestant was Filbert Ephraim Wu of Victory Christian International School.

The Philippine delegation’s team leader is Gerard Francis Ortega and deputy leader is Kevin Charles Atienza.

The four contestants were selected by the National Olympiad in Informatics Philippines, which thanked the Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for supporting the team.

This year, 349 contestants from 88 countries participated in the contest.
