Floating tyres greet workers after downpour
Teamwork was the name of the day at Nambour’s AllCoast Tyre Solutions at 22 Coronation Avenue which was back to business relatively early after an intense clean up job by the crew.
Manager Ron Fell said security camera footage showed water inundating the shop at 4.15am before the camera went blank after power failure at 5.30am. “We had all our machinery lifted up in preparation for it thank goodness,” Ron said. “When we came in (Monday morning) there were tyres floating around everywhere. Some of our walls blew out under the pressure. Our roller doors were pushed in and we had to get them fixed. How some windows didn’t break I have no idea.
“We lost some printers in here because we couldn’t move them. But thank God it didn’t come over the desks.
“I suppose we’re fortunate in that we’ve got so many staff and we were able to just get in, get a crew of 10, 15 guys in, and we’ve just all got stuck into it. We knew what we had to do to get it done as quickly as possible.”
Ron said desks and cupboards had been water damaged and some equipment but the workshop was relatively lucky to be back to business as usual.
