Google now maintains an updated list of third-party “Made for Google” screen protectors that have been certified and “tested to ensure compatibility with Pixel phones” and the fingerprint sensor.
Made for Google is a certification program for third-party accessories. Besides a logo on the product box, Google now has a list of “certified screen protectors” for the Pixel 7a to Pixel 9 Pro XL. Google previously had a list for the Pixel 6-7.
Google notes how “Screen protectors can interfere with your Pixel phone’s fingerprint sensor,” and provides some best practices. You’re supposed to “Avoid air bubbles” as the “fingerprint sensor may not work properly” otherwise. Additionally, you’re supposed to “Apply before you set up Fingerprint Unlock,” though you can always delete and start again.
