The Victor Valley Transit Authority donated four buses to the Victor Valley College Foundation to provide the next generation of transportation professionals with hands-on experience, the foundation announced Tuesday.

The buses will be a central part of Victor Valley College's planned hands-on training area, being created on the college's lower main campus, representatives said.

"This is a big step in helping VVC become a leading hub for transportation education here in the High Desert," school officials said in a written statement. "The buses will be used by students in a new training facility near our solar fields and river walk, giving them real-world experience in transportation, logistics, and fleet operations."

VVC Interim Director of Instruction for the School of Public Safety & Industrial Technology Alyssa Sandello and other school officials thanked the transit authority, adding that the donation will have a direct impact on shaping the futures of students and fast-tracking them into in-demand careers.

"Their support is helping us lay the groundwork for an innovative training program that will prepare our students for careers in transportation and logistics while also strengthening the workforce pipeline in the High Desert," Sandello said.

"The vision is to make VVC a center for transportation education in the region,” Sandello added. "With this donation, we’re taking the first step toward building a space where students can receive real-world experience that directly translates into career opportunities."
