Gethin Jones shared a rather embarrassing tale about his experience with a dating app on the Restless Natives podcast.

The BBC Morning Live presenter recounted how he was booted off Hinge "twice in eight hours" for supposedly breaching their rules, though he assured listeners it wasn't "what you think".

He revealed that: "300 women had reported me for catfishing which is...and when you're on Morning Live, you should know better to not verify my account."

The TV host humorously recalled having to contact the app: "But the moment where I have to write to Hinge, 'Dear Hinge', Thursday night, on your own, writing to an online dating app, 'Hi, it's Gethin here, 46, just wondering. (I) just wanna get my money back."

Reflecting on the incident, Gethin mused: "That's when I'm like, 'Yeah, what am I doing? What am I doing with my life?'".

Before becoming a familiar face on the small screen every weekday morning, Gethin worked as a bank clerk and then moved into television presenting with Welsh channel S4C, reports Wales Online.

His rise to national recognition came with his role on Blue Peter, where he undertook challenges such as jungle survival and flying with the Red Arrows.

Gethin also reached the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing with dance partner Camilla Dallerup and has appeared on various shows, including Comic Relief, This Morning, The One Show, and Doctor Who.

Gethin Jones opened up about a "bad bout of depression" he suffered following his split from Katherine Jenkins, who he became engaged to in February 2011 after meeting her on Strictly. The couple called it quits later the same year.

Post-separation, Jenkins shared that she felt like a "total mess" and was "in pieces" but has since moved on to marry US director Andrew Levitas, with whom she now has two children.

In conversation with Tom Bryant on the Outdoors in Mind podcast, Gethin gave an insight into his mental health struggles after their breakup.

He recollected: "I remember doing BBC Radio 5Live and going into the toilet at 5.30am going, 'All right. Come on. Just focus for the next three hours, and then you can go back to being sad again.' I definitely had a bad bout of depression during that time."
