Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 has proven to be a treat so far with players getting stuck in unlocking their Outlaw Keycards and Party Up Spring Raid quests, and the game’s most recent update did a lot of work in making the experience feel fresh. The Pump and Dump shotgun / SMG combo rose the ranks in players’ arsenals when it touched down, and now more changes are set to come to the game as update 34.20 threatens to arrive on the island bringing every file needed to prepare for the Fortnite OG Season 3 start date.

Fortnite downtime begins at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 8am GMT today, Tuesday, March 25, as confirmed by a tweet from the @FortniteStatus Twitter account. The downtime date was confirmed when we looked at the update 34.20 release date, and the time is an estimation based on recent downtimes, making way for daylight savings. The game will close its matchmaking for thirty minutes ahead of this to ensure that players can finish their games before the entire title goes down.

Fortnite is geared to launch into some big changes when the Fortnite downtime concludes, even if Epic Games itself is skimping on the details. Here’s what we know and can expect when downtime concludes, according to leaker @Hypex:
- New emotes, skins and bundles
- Expected collabs with Mortal Kombat and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- A new Rift Launcher and Mythic Weapon for Mortal Kombat’s Skorpion, along with other Mythics
- A new ‘Staying Solo’ level up pack
- The new third season of Fortnite OG
- New secret Icon skins, emotes and bundles
The refreshed game is set to bring an entirely new season and a collection of cosmetics that will replace the Fortnite OG Season 2 OG Pass, which is going to be incredibly exciting. Fortnite is about to get even bigger, especially for you nostalgia hounds, and once the game has packed up its Fortnite downtime, it's going to be a blast.
