Delhi Budget 2025: Free laptops to CM Shri Schools, over ₹1,700 crore allocated for education sector

Delhi chief minister on Tuesday unveiled Rs 1 lakh crore Budget for 2025-26. She attacked the AAP government for misleading people about the quality of education. “The AAP government failed many students in 9th and 11th standard so that their 10th and 12th results appear better,” she alleged.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the Budget 2025-26 in the Assembly on Tuesday, with the education sector being among the ten focus areas for her government. The government has allocated over ₹1,700 crore for the national capital's education sector.



The Delhi Budget allocates ₹100 crore to establish new ‘CM Shri schools’ in the National Capital. Apart from that, ₹750 crore has been earmarked for distributing free laptops to 1,200 students who pass Class X.

CM Shri Schools:
In her speech, the Delhi CM attacked the AAP government for misleading people about the quality of education. “The AAP government failed many students in 9th and 11th standard so that their 10th and 12th results appear better,” she alleged.

She then went on to announce that the present BJP government will bring reform to the education system and said, "The government will launch CM SHRI Schools, inspired by PM SHRI Schools and aligned with the New Education Policy.”


Smart classes and computer labs: Gupta said a fund of ₹100 crore has been kept for building 175 new computer labs and smart classes in the budget. She said, “1200 children will be given laptops under the free laptop scheme, who will go from 10th to 11th. ₹7.50 crore will be kept on this."

Talent hunt scheme in Delhi: The CM also said that a talent hunt scheme will be started in Delhi, for which ₹5 crore has been allocated.

She also announced that they are increasing the budget for the Maithili and Bhojpuri Academy to ₹6 crore, and ₹139 crore has been kept for promoting art and culture.

Narela to be an education hub: A budget of ₹618 crore has been allocated to build an education hub in Narela. She also announced that a sports university will be opened in the national capital.

In her speech, Gupta also stated that language labs would be opened in 100 government schools in Delhi in the name of the late APJ Abdul Kalam. A provision of ₹21 crore has been made for that, she added.
