The start of April will see temperatures in Wales soar with a week of warm weather set to make much of south Wales warmer than Barcelona, Ibiza and parts of Greece. Met Office is forecasting that on Thursday, April 3, temperatures are set to reach 20°C across Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Carmarthenshire.
The weather this weekend, March 29 and 30, will be mixed with "sunny intervals" on both days and temperatures of 12°C on Saturday and 15°C on Sunday following the clock change in the early hours of the morning. But from Tuesday to Thursday next week it will be sunny and warm with a UV between three and four.
From Tuesday temperatures will be 18°C, with Wednesday reaching 19°C and Thursday 20°C. As well as this there will be less than a five percent chance of rain and only a gentle breeze across south Wales during the hot weather. There's more great news for people looking forward to longer days, as by the end of next week the sun will be setting just before 8pm after the clocks go forward on Sunday. The sun will go from setting at 6.45pm on Saturday, March 29, to 7.53pm on Thursday, April 3.
The Met Office forecast for Wales for Saturday to Monday says: "Largely dry over the weekend and into Monday with bright spells. Some patchy rain and drizzle possible at times over the hills. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine though often breezy."
The long-range UK forecast for Tuesday, April 1, to Thursday, April 10, says: "From the start of April, settled weather is expected to cover much of the UK. Most places are expected to be dry with clear or sunny spells and light winds. Inland areas will see a general day on day warming next week. It will probably remain slightly cooler near coastal areas, with an additional risk of mist or sea fog affecting parts of the east coast.
"There is a chance for more unsettled and perhaps cooler weather for a time. However the main signal is for dry and fine weather across the country during this period. Temperatures will likely be around or above normal and feeling warm during the day, and some cold nights are still possible when skies are clear."
