One of this spring's top feel-good stories has a connection to the Boston Red Sox.
On Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants announced 27-year-old infielder Christian Koss earned a spot on the opening day roster. Koss secured his first big league promotion after hitting .341 with a .938 OPS and one home run in 41 spring training at-bats.
Koss is expected to serve as a depth infielder in San Francisco.
Red Sox fans might remember Koss, whom Boston acquired in late 2020 in a trade that sent minor league pitcher Yoan Aybar to the Colorado Rockies.
Koss spent the next three seasons in Boston's farm system, experiencing stints at all three levels. He never showed much promise at the plate, however, and was traded to the Giants for cash last March. He now will look to make the most of his first opportunity in the majors.
On the other side of the spectrum, former Red Sox slugger Bobby Dalbec couldn't even earn a roster spot on the Chicago White Sox, who might be the worst team in baseball.
