Four young Slovaks took first place in the Irish cyber competition ZeroDays CTF in Dublin. Fewer than one hundred teams tackled tasks from various areas of cybersecurity. The aim of the CTF competition is to search for new talents and encourage young people to pursue careers in cybersecurity.
The members of the winning Slovak Cyber Team are Marek Geleta, Tomáš Proks, Ivan Lepieš, and Matúš Mandzák. All of them are university students and have been involved in cybersecurity games since high school. "We are very much driven by the common cause, thanks to which we have moved forward not only consciously, but also in communication and teamwork. I think that was very successful. We are really happy with the win and I hope that we will do similarly well in other competitions," said team captain Geleta.
The participants of the competition solved tasks in the fields of cryptography, hardware and web security, reverse engineering, forensic analysis, and penetration testing. There were also unconventional tasks using modern technologies. Four-member teams hacked digital services and physical devices.
ZeroDays CTF is a national cybersecurity competition for students, university graduates, and information and communication technology experts.
