'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?
ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.
When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.
ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. This $80 tablet makes a great travel companion - and at this price I might get two

Amazon's Big Spring Sale event is here through March 31, and the Lenovo Tab M9 has received a huge discount. This midrange tablet has just gone from $120 to $79, a 33% drop in price.

Coinciding with the deal, a couple of Tab M9 bundles have received their own discounts. Lenovo is offering the tablet with an Urban Laptop Sleeve for $95. The second bundle combines the Tab M9 with a 20,000mAh power bank and currently costs $195 at the time of this writing. While these are all for the 2023 model, the tablet is still a great device, especially for what it's selling for.
I recommend the Lenovo Tab M9 for people who want an inexpensive, everyday tablet. It sports a nine-inch HD touchscreen that outputs an image resolution of 1,340 x 800 pixels, and it's powered by a MediaTek G80 Octa Core processor and 3GB of memory. It also has a rear 8MP camera, a 2MP selfie lens, and 32GB of storage for photos and apps.
As you can see from these specs, it is not a super powerful device. But what it lacks in power, it makes up in other areas. The Tab M9 has a 5,100mAh battery, lasting up to 13 hours of video playback. It also weighs 13.4 ounces, making it easy to carry around and a great travel device.

"Dual speakers provide crystal clear sound," but if you don't want to disturb the people around you, the device has a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones on the side.
Looking at Amazon user reviews, some praise the Lenovo Tab M9 for its vibrant, high-resolution display, while others appreciate its longevity. Considering its display size and handy design, I'm finding it difficult to recommend any other value-centric tablet that's on sale this week.

How I rated this deal
Arr 33% off, ZDNET's rating system grants this promotion a 4/5 Editor's deal rating score. The Lenovo Tab M9 is a decent media tablet that won't cost you an arm and a leg, and it makes for a great first tablet for children. This may be the lowest amount the Tab M9 will ever go for, so be sure to take advantage of the deal while it lasts.
