Met Office urges Brits 'protect yourself' as 22C hottest day of the year to hit this week
The Met Office has offered some advice to those enjoying the sun this week.
The Met Office has told Brits to protect themselves as the UK is set to soar to 22 degrees this week - the hottest day of 2025 so far.
Temperatures are expected to creep up throughout the week, starting at a maximum of 19 on Tuesday, rising one degree by Wednesday and ending on a high of 22 degrees on Thursday.
The Met Office predicts there will be "clear skies and warm sunshine for many" in its week-ahead forecast, although it warned of frost and cold temperatures at night in rural areas due to largely cloudless skies.
On Tuesday, it predicts there will be a "sunny start for nearly everyone across the UK", and cloud in central parts of England is expected to burn off in the morning.
The northwest of England and north Wales are expected to feel the highest temperatures, up to 19 degrees, while the south of the UK could be cooler due to a breeze.
It added: "Wednesday will be another day of widespread sunshine, with temperatures possibly reaching 20C, especially in northeast Scotland where the Foehn effect will amplify temperatures during the day.
"Thursday is likely to bring the highest temperatures of the week, with 21 - 22C possible for southern parts of England."
The Met Office's Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen told Brits to "think about protecting yourself from the sun as even in April it is strong enough to burn your skin," due to rising UV levels.
According to the weather agency, UV levels are starting to reach "moderate" levels, which means protection is needed to prevent your skin from burning.
It noted that low cloud from the North Sea could keep temperatures lower along the east coast through Thursday and Friday.
