Rumours are swirling around over who may take over the hosting reigns of Amazon Prime Video's hit motoring show The Grand Tour since its presenting trio exited the show in 2024. Since the show originated in 2016, ex-Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May had been in the driver's seat (get it, because it's a show about cars).

Richard Hammond shared insight into the future of The Grand Tour last year, confirming to Metro.co.uk that the series was expected to go on with a fresh team both in front and behind the cameras, although he refrained from delving into specifics. "It will be carrying on," Hammond assured, expressing enthusiasm about watching new episodes from the perspective of an audience member.

While he and his fellow former co-hosts intend to step back, he indicated their willingness to provide guidance. "We'll always be on hand to talk if they want to talk to us, absolutely. But it's not for us to shape it anymore. We're stepping away."

According to a report from The Sun, the social media sensation and train aficionado, Francis Bourgeois is being eyed up for the role should the streaming service commission more episodes. He is mainly known for his engaging trainspotting content across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and has even spotted a few trains in Wales. It is important to mention, however, that Amazon has yet to officially greenlight any new instalments. When pressed by the Radio Times, Amazon opted not to comment on these claims.

Bourgeois' distinct niche in railway enthusiasm has gained him world wide recognition, which more recently earned him a web series for Channel 4 which showed him enjoying train journeys with celebrities such as Tom Daley, Aisling Bea, and Sam Ryder.

In the meantime, fans missing the camaraderie and escapades of Richard, James and Jeremy will be treated to four upcoming retrospective specials, recently announced by Amazon. Scheduled to premiere on Friday, 18th April 2025, is The Not Very Grand Tour: The Power and the Glory.

This will be followed by a trio of additional specials in the coming months: The Grand-ish Tour: A Trip Down Memory Lane, A Bit Further Down Memory Lane, and Completely Lost Down Memory Lane. These nostalgic episodes will feature the beloved trio reminiscing about their most memorable - and occasionally cringe-worthy - moments from their numerous travels and experiences.

The Grand Tour is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
