UK weather to be hotter than Spain as Brits to bask in 20C heat all week
The UK is set to be hotter than Spain's Costa del Sol this week as Brits continue to bask in temperatures warmer than 20C amid the mini heatwave-style weather for some time yet
The UK's set to outshine some of our fave holiday spots on the Costa del Sol this week.
Brits are in for a treat with temps topping 20C as the country rides this mini heatwave. Friday is looking like the scorcher of the week, with most of the UK basking in a balmy 20C or more.
Meanwhile, over in Benalmádena on the Costa del Sol, a Brit holiday staple, it will only hit around 17C. Nearby Torremolinos will be even cooler at 16C. It is not often southern Spain's chillier than us in early April.
Spain is also bracing for a downpour, with rain set to drench the Costa del Sol and other areas like Cádiz on Friday. Expect heavy showers and thunder throughout Friday night.
But back home, forecasters reckon we're in for a dry spell all week.
Monday saw Aboyne in Aberdeenshire and Nantwich in Cheshire clocking up some of the highest temps in the UK at 19.2C and 18.4C respectively. But hold onto your sun hats, because the mercury's set to rise even further, peaking with Friday's sizzling high.
This Friday's weather forecast is lookin' like a scorcher, with the Southwest of England and Wales tipped to be basking in the glow.
Pack your sunnies because they're expecting sizzling highs of 21C, Ventusky forecasters reckon.
But that's not all - the Met Office says we've got a mini heatwave heading our way for days on end!
From Saturday April 5 to Monday April 14, the MetOffice predict: "High pressure will tend to dominate through this period, often centred to the north or northeast of the UK, maintaining largely settled conditions for much of the time. This should result in lengthy spells of dry and bright weather, but with a risk of patchy overnight frosts where winds fall light."
They also give us a heads up about possible foggy areas, especially around some coasts: "There is also the chance of some areas of low cloud or fog, especially around some coasts. Later in the period, it may turn more unsettled at times as rain or showers try and push in from the west.
"It will be breezy at times, especially in the southwest early on. Daytime temperatures will tend to fluctuate depending on the wind direction and cloud amounts, with the potential for warm conditions at times but also cooler interludes."
