UK TV fans ask 'what’s going on' as acclaimed HBO drama The Pitt still not available to watch

The medical drama has been earning rave reviews in the United States

UK TV fans are asking 'what’s going on' on social media as acclaimed HBO drama The Pitt is still not available to watch on our shores.

US network HBO have produced some of the biggest shows of all time, including The Sopranos, The Wire and Game of Thrones. More recently, viewers have been captivated by Succession, The White Lotus and Euphoria.

Despite the majority of their programmes airing on Sky once they've premiered, in most cases broadcast in the UK the next day, one show is yet to be given a release date.

The Pitt follows Noah Wyle's Dr Michael Robinavitch, known as Robby, the chief attendant in the trauma section of a Pittsburgh hospital. Similarly to Kiefer Sutherland in 24, each episode takes place over a single hour of his day-long 15-hour shift.

Rather than having to battle enemies like Jack Bauer, Robby faces staffing problems, the memory of a mentor's death from Covid and many medical emergencies.

The series marks a return to the hospital for Wyle, who rose to fame on ER as Dr John Carter, where he acted alongside George Clooney.

In a world where countless medical dramas are released, The Pitt has breathed new life into the television staple that some found had become stale in recent years.

Boasting a staggering 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and a strong score of 8.8 on IMBD, The Pitt is one of the best reviewed shows of 2025 to date.

However, with the series airing on HBO Max in America, the network’s streaming service, it remains unclear when UK fans will get to watch the show that’s taken over social media.

TV fanatics took to X, previously known as Twitter, to ask when or if they’ll get to see for themselves why The Pitt is so good.

@limalimalimaaI said: “actually can’t believe the Pitt is still not available in the UK like what’s going on.” @MichalDraker added: “All these streaming services and none of them have THE PITT available in the UK!?”

@talentedmsgrace wrote: “And where exactly is a UK girl such as myself supposed to watch The Pitt. In my imagination?” @elliemvrphy posted: “Can a UK streaming service (cough cough @NOW) PLEASE pick up the pitt expeditiously thank you.”

@daryl_millar speculated: “I assume any brand new MAX series from now on will be held back until the streamer launches in the UK next year (with HBO shows still going to Sky for the timebeing)." @CharChristof stated: “Everybody is talking about the Pitt and I can't watch it in the UK.”

It emerged in December that Sky were extending its deal with Warner Brothers Discovery, meaning that they would continue to get access to HBO’s content.

Additionally, a version of HBO Max, which will contain ads, was announced to be coming to Sky customers for free in 2026.

Sky chief executive Dana Strong said: "The combination of content from our partners, alongside our slate of Sky Originals, and Sky's leading aggregation of the UK and Ireland's best content apps gives us an unrivalled entertainment proposition and an exceptional line-up of the world's best shows."

Andrew Georgiou, the president and managing director for WBD UK and Ireland, added: "Our new agreement will continue Warner Bros. Discovery's long-standing collaboration with Sky and deepen our relationship across distribution and now the bundling of Max.

"This will enable Max immediately at launch to be available to millions of passionate video subscribers, and separately be available to the more than 20 million other broadband households in the territories through Max direct-to-consumer and other partnerships."
