Divorce play Koko on April 9 [Flower Up & Rosie Sco]

A JOYFUL day party, cult skater Tommy Guerrero, two major Eurovision acts, a reggae dancehall all-star, and the return of Kate Nash and Davey MacManus and the continuation of one of the Roundhouse’s most cutting edge festivals plus so much more – the next fortnight is going to be a busy one. Find out more below…

Davey MacManus, former singer in The Crimea and The Crocketts, is a familiar face round these parts. His colourful life is charted through poems and anecdotes in his 2024 book The Bluster Boy – and Camden features heavily. Having given up his music career to become a nurse and volunteer in “one of the most dangerous places on earth”, he plays hits from his new album Even The Trees Know Karate plus music from across his 30-year career, at Camden Assembly on April 13.

• Newcastle’s Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, known for their wild shows, bring their blend of heavy rock, psychedelia, doom, metal and more to Koko on April 4), with support from Irked.

Day Fever – Vicky McClure, Jonny Owen and Jon McClure’s joyous daytime party for people who just want to dance among positive vibes – returns to Outernet on April 5, perfect for vampires who need to be home before sundown.

• Cult skater and original member of the Bones Brigade skate collective, San Franciscan born musician Tommy Guerrero has become a revered figure on the indie scene, blending rock, jazz, Latin, soul, funk and more – not to be missed. He plays Jazz Café on April 5 with support from Sons of Sevilla. Also playing Jazz Café is reggae dancehall star Eek-A-Mouse on April 14.

Here are two polar opposites for the Eurovision fans out there: last year’s UK entrant Olly Alexander plays London Palladium on April 7 where no doubt he will run through his stemmed back catalogue of Years and Years and solo work; and on April 8 Finnish rock / heavy metal act LORDI, known for their elaborate monster outfits and hit song Hard Rock Hallelujah, play Islington Assembly Hall.

• Nottingham band Divorce ends its headline tour at Koko on April 9 in support of the release of debut album Drive to Goldenhammer last month. Then, on April 10, Camden rap artist Ocean Wisdom, who has collaborated with the likes of Method Man, Giggs, Novelist and more, plays Koko – on her home ground – with support from Paul Stephan, Splurge Boys, Grim Sickers + Zeo. Also playing the venue on April 15-16, Geordie Greep, former member of Mercury-nominated band Black Midi will return with his critically-acclaimed debut solo project The New Sound.

Multi-platinum-selling, Brit Award-winning artist and actress Kate Nash returns with her fifth studio album 9 Sad Symphonies. She plays The Forum on April 9.

• The Roundhouse’s Three Sixty Festival continues throughout this month – upcoming events include: Pioneering ballroom collective Vogue Rites’ Face the Music Ball – a night of unapologetic self-expression, music, and movement (April 9); Daniel Kaluuya’s Centre 59 presents Sonder(s) (April 9-12); SHERELLELAND – a night of uncompromising music from acclaimed producer and DJ SHERELLE + Sexy Lady Massive, MC GQ, Demolition Squad and Rupture (April 11); Jack Rooke’s SHOW HOLE ft.
