Here’s how to play Xbox Cloud Gaming (aka xCloud) on your Apple TV the right and easy way.
If you’ve been waiting for a smooth way to play Xbox Cloud Gaming on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, we have good news! OneCast just dropped its version 3.0 update, and it’s a game-changer.
OneCast has been around since 2018 as a go-to app for streaming games from your Xbox console to Apple devices. But until now, it could only stream from your personal Xbox—either locally or remotely.
With v3.0, that limitation is gone. You can now stream Xbox Cloud Gaming titles directly, no console needed. All you need is a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and you’re good to go. This is huge for Apple TV as this device doesn’t include any web browser, so this app is now the only way to enjoy xCloud games on Apple TV. Just connect any tvOS/iOS compatible game controller to your Apple TV via Bluetooth and you’re good to go.
This update isn’t just about xCloud access, though. OneCast 3.0 brings a bunch of handy new features: there’s a new “High Quality Mode” for sharper 1080p streaming (though specifics like bitrate improvements are still a mystery), and iOS users can now game in picture-in-picture mode—perfect for multitasking.
Got friends over? Local co-op is now possible by connecting multiple controllers to one device. You’ll also get keyboard and mouse support for compatible games, and a “Virtual Controller” option for more precise aiming. Apple users even get automatic Game Mode activation, which helps reduce Bluetooth lag and silences notifications while you play.
Another bonus: OneCast is finally offering a 7-day free trial on iOS, iPadOS, and Apple TV. Previously, free trials were Mac-only. So if you’re curious, now’s the perfect time to try it out.
