Toulouse v Sale Sharks: Preview
Toulouse may not have topped their pool – Top 14 rivals Bordeaux-Bègles pipped them by a single bonus point – but they still won all their games, and are one of the most formidable sides in the competition.
Even without the injured Antoine Dupont, the side has something of a galactico vibe, with the likes of Blair Kinghorn, Ange Capuozzo, Thomas Ramos and Romain Ntamack showing off the best the Six Nations can offer. They’ve also beaten Sale’s South African namesakes, the Sharks, in this year’s competition.
Sale Sharks’ Champions Cup campaign has been rather more mixed, featuring the highs of victories over Racing 92 and Toulon and the lows of defeats to Glasgow Warriors and the Stormers.
They’re currently sitting just outside the play-off spots in the Gallagher Premiership, and while the fact they’ve beaten French opposition twice this season will give them some confidence, Toulouse are likely to be a step up from anything they’ve played so far.
