Celebrity Big Brother’s Lauren Simon reveals real reason she would never do show again
Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lauren Simon has revealed the real reason she is in no rush to sign up to Celebrity Big Brother again after her wild time on the show last year
Lauren Simon has revealed why she would never do Celebrity Big Brother again after her rocky stint last year. The Real Housewives of Cheshire star competed on the show last year when it made its huge comeback on ITV.
She joined the likes of Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu on the social experiment show. Lauren didn't disappoint on the show as she found herself at the centre of mischief with X Factor icon Louis as they broke the house rules.
The reality TV star was also given strict instructions from her teenage daughter Gigi as she entered the house - "Don't talk about sex no sex!" Lauren has insisted she has no regrets about signing up to the show, yet admitted she is never heading back in the iconic house.
She told us: "I absolutely loved the experience. I actually enjoyed having no phone or contact with the outside world. I always say it was like sleeping in Selfridges after hours without the lights on. I’d never shared a bedroom with 13 people before—let alone one toilet!
"It was certainly an unusual situation but an amazing experience." Lauren added: "That said, I’m not in a rush to do it again!" The TV star revealed she doesn't believe in regrets as "we are where we are, and we can’t change yesterday."
Reflecting on her time on Big Brother, Lauren shared: "I was true to myself in that house. I didn’t play any games—maybe I should have, but that’s just not me.
"I’m confident, I like things my way, and I’m outspoken, but I think I’m fair. I believe the way I came across is exactly who I am. I’m not argumentative, but I will stand my ground—I’m no pushover! Should I have been more easygoing? No, because that’s just not who I am," she told Casino.org on behalf of the Mirror.
Her experience of working in TV also helped Lauren's daughter Gigi make up her mind when she was approached by Love Island bosses last summer. It seemed like Lauren could have switched to be the one supporting her daughter by watching her mini-me on screen.
However, Lauren revealed the pair had extensive chats about Gigi signing up to the show – which she decided to turn down. Love Island stars have seen their lives drastically change upon exiting the villa as they amass thousands of fans, brand deals and media attention.
Lauren admitted: "Me and Gigi spoke quite a lot about her going onto Love Island, because I’m in reality TV, I know how hard it can be. You have to be quite thick-skinned, and Gigi isn’t really. She isn’t a tough character; she’s got a big mouth, and she can hold her own.
"She’s a very articulate and an intelligent girly. But I don’t know whether she could cope with all the rejection on national TV – it’s tough – especially with men involved!"
"Also, last year she was very young – she was only 19. It was ultimately her decision to say no," she added. Gigi put a lot of thought into the decision before turning it down as Lauren explained: "Plus, she is also at university doing a degree in art, and she didn’t think that Love Island would further her career."
The Real Housewives of Cheshire star won't hold back Gigi if she changes her mind, however, as she said: "I would allow my kids to do whatever they want. If she wants to do it, I’d support her, like she’s supported me over the years.
"The only thing she’s said to me though, is that I’m not allowed to go on OnlyFans, that’s the only thing! But I’m not sure a lot of people would like to see me without my clothes on anyway. Gigi has been in Real Housewives of Cheshire loads this year though, and she’s brilliant. She’s really good at it."
