South of Midnight release time – here’s when you can play Xbox’s latest charming exclusive
The official South of Midnight release time arrives later this week, with players on PC and Xbox both able to jump in.
If you’re wondering when you can jump into the new action-platformer from Compulsion Games, we’ve got you covered with the details.
Xbox has been on a bit of a winning streak as of late, most recently bringing open-world survival game Atomfall to Xbox Game Pass late last month, and treating fantasy fans to all of Avowed’s delights just a month or so before that. Thankfully, Xbox Series X|S owners are set to continue eating well, as we will soon see the official South of Midnight release time and date arrive. It’s yet more fruit that is finally paying off from the platform-holders' various studio investments, with this being developer Compulsion Games’ first release since being acquired in 2018.
So, was South of Midnight worth the wait? Well, yes and no, at least if you’re going by our review. We certainly enjoyed playing through this stop-motion version of the American Deep South as a supernatural heroine while at the same time recognising that it often plays painfully simply “whenever the time comes to explore your surroundings or take on yet another wave of non-descript slime creatures”. That said, if you’re curious to see how South of Midnight looks and plays yourself, here’s everything you need to know with regards to the official South of Midnight release time on both Xbox and PC.
South of Midnight release time
The South of Midnight release time is 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST on Tuesday, April 8, on both Xbox and PC. Said timings were confirmed in a post from the official @CompulsionGames Twitter account, outright confirming that the game is set to undergo a global launch release as opposed to releasing at different times depending on territory.
This upcoming South of Midnight release time works in the exact same fashion as the one rolled out for South of Midnight’s early access release, which kicked off as early as last Tuesday. Since then, players who preordered the premium edition have been able to enjoy Hazel Flood’s journey through Deep South culture and folklore, enjoying the game’s beautiful stop-motion animation art style and meeting all kinds of inventive creatures that range from a giant crocodile to a talking Catfish. Better yet, reports and reviews suggest that South of Midnight only takes around 8-12 hours to finish, so its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass on day one should make it the perfect weekend treat.
