16 years since Susan Boyle blew us away in 2009 with her legendary Britain's Got Talent audition, the West Lothian lassie was tipped to win the show and earn a spot on the Royal Variety Performance, but she ultimately finished runner-up to dance troupe Diversity.

Despite her rise to global stardom, the now-64 year old has remained down-to-earth and appreciative of her success.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Scottish singer is worth $40 million, which is roughly just under £31 million, reported Wales Online.

Her wealth is in part due to her numerous album releases, and nobody can forget the infamous #Susanalbumparty and the controversy the promotional hashtag caused.

Her other business endeavours include Duil Limited, Speur Business, Speur Ltd, and Speur Films, which have accumulated an impressive £2 million.

Despite her wealth, Susan is renowned for her thrifty habits, previously telling Piers Morgan that she's prudent with her spending. While she has millions at her fingertips, she adheres to a modest weekly budget of £300-£500, which she asserts is "plenty."

Susan's personality is reflected in her decision to remain in her childhood home in Blackburn where nine of them lived while she was growing up.

She said, "There’s a bit of history attached to this house" and as a result purchased her former council house for £111,000, a small fraction of her fortune. The singer has since renovated the house that she has lived in for over 60 years.

Susan added: "It’s to do with the memories of your house and your upbringing, you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots lie.

"It’s best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn't say."

The singer has faced some familial tensions, particularly with her brother Gerry. The pair reportedly did not communicate for over two years due to allegations that Gerry had threatened to take his own life unless Susan gave him £50,000. Reports suggest that Susan has provided her brother with approximately £400,000 over time.

Thankfully, the siblings have mended their relationship since 2016. In conversation with the Sunday Mirror, Susan conveyed her contentment: "I'm very happy, it's a great relief and I'm looking to the future with a happy smile. Everything is hunky dory and fantastic."

But family drama was the least of Susan's worries as she faced a health battle. She spoke candidly about losing two stone after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in a 2016 interview.

Susan was straightforward about the dietary adjustments she had to make, stating: "I needed to stop eating sweeties and cakes. It's the bane of my life."
