FOX receives Emmy nomination for 2024 Daytona 500 coverage

FOX received an Emmy Award nomination for its coverage of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Daytona 500. The Sports Emmy Award nominations were released on Tuesday, and FOX’s coverage of the 66th Daytona 500 was nominated for Outstanding Live Special – Non-Championship Event.
The 2024 Daytona 500 took place on Feb. 19, 2024. FOX’s broadcast team was Mike Joy, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick, who won the Daytona 500 in 2007. The pit reporters were Jamie Little, Regan Smith and Josh Sims, and the in-race analyst was Larry McReynolds.
FOX’s coverage of last year’s Daytona 500 was significant because it was Harvick’s debut as a broadcaster. Harvick retired from full-time racing after the 2023 season and quickly joined the FOX Sports family.
“I have done a lot a lot of things in the booth and knew that was somewhere that I wanted to be because I like talking about the sport,” Harvick said in February 2023. “I like to be able to tell stories and be a part of the broadcast and that’s something that I have enjoyed. I enjoyed the preparation and everything that goes into it to be able to tell a story.”

Harvick added, “There’s really nobody else who has stepped out of the car and into the booth with the new car. There’s a lot of new things happening with this particular car that are much different than the way that the other car raced, the way the other car felt.”
William Byron won the 2024 Daytona 500. Alex Bowman finished second, and the rest of the top five includes Christopher Bell, Corey LaJoie and Bubba Wallace. With Byron winning the race, it was the first Daytona 500 title for Hendrick Motorsports since 2014.
“We obviously laid back and tried to save fuel for most of the race, and we would get up there at the end of the stages and make some moves,” Byron said after the race last year. “Just thankful for great power under the hood, all of our partners, Chevrolet, everybody that allows us to do this.” The 46th Annual Sports Emmy Awards will take place on Tuesday, May 20th.
