Inside Celebrity Big Brother star Danny Beard's life - from BGT audition to real name
RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner Danny Beard is currently starring on the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother, which began earlier this week
Celebrity Big Brother is well underway with a fresh group of famous faces entering the iconic house on Monday night (April 7).
This year's star-studded line-up includes Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd, musician Chesney Hawkes, US internet personality JoJo Siwa and EastEnders icon Patsy Palmer.
Since the series returned earlier this week, one housemate has made a splash on social media, with many fans already calling for Danny Beard to win the show.
As the fresh batch of celebs settle into their new home, let's explore Danny's rise to fame and life away from the Celebrity Big Brother house, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Real Name
Danny, whose real name is Daniel Curtis, was born in Liverpool in May 1992. Speaking to TimeOut about their home city, Danny said: "I think people are shocked how nice the city is, and just the general vibe."
They added: "We're quite friendly, we love a party, you just know to keep your handbag close to your chest." Danny uses they/them pronouns, but has shared that they are open to using other terms as well.
While speaking on their podcast, The Gossip Gays, Danny opened up about their identity, saying: "In lockdown we had so much time on our hands, I did a bit of reading and really related to feeling like, 'My god, I'm non-binary.'"
Danny added, "I also think for me as time's gone on I think technically yes, I would say I'm non-binary, but also it's not a thing I go out and say, 'Hey everyone, I'm non-binary'. I don't mind if people say they, people say she anyways cause I'm a drag queen."
Danny first made waves in 2016 when they auditioned for the tenth series of Britain's Got Talent, making it all the way to the semi-finals. They later competed on Karaoke Club: Drag Edition and secured a respectable fourth place.
RuPaul's Drag Race UK
In 2022, Danny was unveiled as part of the cast for the fourth series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK. They made history as the sixth bearded queen to appear on the Drag Race franchise, and was the first to be critiqued by RuPaul.
Throughout the series, Danny won four main challenges, becoming only the fourth contestant in the show's history to achieve this feat, and sailed into the final without facing elimination.
After outshining Cheddar Gorgeous in the final, Danny was crowned the season's winner.
Following their triumph on Drag Race, Danny has appeared on Hollyoaks, The Traitors: Uncloaked, and even had a stint hosting their own mid-morning show on BBC Radio 1.
Celebrity Big Brother
Danny has also been a regular face on the panel of Big Brother's ITV2 spin-off, Late and Live, joining hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best.
Ahead of the live launch, Danny expressed excitement about mingling with a diverse group of people and soaking up the unique experience.
"I'm looking forward to meeting people from all different walks of life that I just probably would never meet or mix with," they shared.
"And I'm a massive super fan of the show so I'm looking forward to secret tasks, getting dressed up in ridiculous outfits, face-to-face nominations. I want the full Big Brother experience!"
