MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - An off-duty Montgomery police officer was relieved from duty and charged with a crime on Thursday, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Nicholas Zachary, 22, is accused of electronically soliciting a child.

MPD says it opened an investigation on March 27, placing Zachary on administrative leave after becoming aware of the allegations.

Zachary, who joined the department in 2024, was assigned to the Training and Career Development Bureau.

No further information has been released. This is an ongoing investigation.
