SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Police in Sikeston are investigating a shooting which resulted in a juvenile injured and three suspects sought.
The Sikeston Department of Public safety said on April 9, at around 5:22 p.m., a Shotspotter alerted them of several gunshots in the area of Ruth Street and Clayton Avenue.
While driving to the scene, officers also received a 911 call about a vehicle shot at and a person inside the vehicle who was shot in the area of Miami Arcade parking lot in the 100-block of Branum.
Police said they identified the driver of the vehicle and a juvenile child which was also in the vehicle as well. Police said the juvenile was shot and had non-life threatening injuries.
The juvenile was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a severe injury.
Sikeston DPS Officers, along with members of the Criminal Investigation Unit investigated and said the passenger vehicle was in the area of Ruth and Clayton Avenue when the bullet hit the vehicle and traveled through and hit the juvenile in the face while sitting in the rear part of the vehicle.
Investigators said they identified three possible suspects in the shooting.
The three suspects were identified as Cooper Allen Day, 18 of Sikeston, Jaquevion Lavar Horton, 18 of Sikeston, and Larry Lavar Horton II, 19 of Charleston.
Police said all three have active outstanding no bond warrants for the following crimes:
- Assault 1st Degree – class A Felony
- Assault 2nd Degree – class B Felony
- Unlawful Use of Weapon – class B Felony
- Armed Criminal Action – unclassified Felony
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st Degree – class B Felony
- Property Damage 1st Degree – class E Felony
This incident is still under investigation and the Sikeston DPS Criminal Investigations Unit is asking anyone with any knowledge on where these three suspects might be, to call police.
The three suspects are considered armed and dangerous by police.
