SIKESTON, Mo. — The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is asking for public help finding three young men wanted in connection with a Wednesday shooting. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

According to Sikeston DPS, law enforcement received an alert of shots fired Wednesday evening in the area of Ruth Street and Clayton Avenue in Sikeston. One person and a vehicle were reportedly shot in the Miami Arcade parking lot in the 100 block of Branum Street. Officers found that the juvenile child of the vehicle's driver had been shot. EMS took the child to a hospital to treat serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Officers and the Criminal Investigation Unit learned that the vehicle was shot as it passed through the intersection. The bullet traveled into the vehicle and struck the juvenile in the face while they sat in the backseat.

The victims' identities and the condition of the child were not released as of Friday night.

Detectives identified three suspects in the shooting as Cooper Allen Day, 18, of Sikeston; Jaquevion Lavar Horton, 18, of Sikeston; and Larry Lavar Horton II, 19, of Charleston. 

All three have active outstanding no bond warrants in Scott County for the following charges:

  • First-degree assault, a class A felony.
  • Second-degree assault, a class B felony.
  • Unlawful use of a weapon, a class B felony.
  • Armed criminal action, an unclassified felony.
  • First-degree endangering the welfare of a child, a class B felony.
  • First-degree property damage, a class E felony.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the Sikeston DPS Criminal Investigations Unit is asking for the public's assistance in finding the three suspects.
