Several planning applications seeking permission to prune trees across Southampton have been submitted to the city council.

The proposals were all submitted last week.

The first application was submitted by Noah Strachan for 12 Windover Close.

The application is to prune the oak and birch trees at the property.

The oak tree will undergo deadwood removal, selective branch reduction, and a reduction of a four-metre long limb extending over the neighbour's garden.

The birch tree will be reduced for service line clearance of 1.5m and a crown reduction by 2.5 to 3m.

The second application, submitted by Thomas Bunday for the English oak tree at Year In Industry Building at the University of Southampton, was decided on April 7.

The application was for a 30 per cent crown volume reduction, equating to a 10 to 15 per cent branch length reduction, removing 2 to 3m.

The tree is 25m with a 16m spread.

The decision was to permit and refuse parts of the application.

The third application was submitted by Ciaran Murison for the Banister Primary School in Archers Road.

The proposal is to crown lift the group of trees to 4m in height over the road and a height of 2.5-3m over the footway by removal of secondary and tertiary branches only.

The final application was submitted by Muhammad Mubashar for trees on The Mayflower off Elmsleigh Gardens.

Mr Mubashar is proposing to prune the overhanging branches of a tree located at house number four of The Mayflower.

The branches are up to 15m in length, extending to Elmsleigh Gardens.

The application also proposes to prune an overhanging tree limb up to 4m in length extending from the fence to 43A Elmsleigh Gardens.

Another tree at The Mayflower will undergo pruning of overhanging branches up to 3m in length.

To view the applications in full and any other applications that have been submitted this month, go to the city council's planning portal and search by the application number.

Comments can be submitted on the applications before a decision is made.
