Netflix's new matchmaking series has left subscribers urging others to skip it.
The recent addition, Pop the Baloon Live, arrived on the streaming giant on Thursday (10 April) and has since been bombarded by harsh critiques on social media.
Originally birthed as a YouTube hit by Bolia Matundu (BM) and Arlette Amuli, the speed-dating series soared to viral fame last year.

Taking notes from the online buzz, Netflix grabbed the concept, tossing its own flair into the mix. Now, the show is streamed live every Thursday night, hosted by Emmy-nominated actress Yvonne Orji.
The concept is simple: a group of singles are handed red balloons, each holding the right to pop it at any time. Another single then enters and tries their best to pitch themselves to the balloon brigade, reports Surrey Live.

This lead singleton asks the line-up compatibility questions, and based on their answers, they can eliminate the balloon holders.
While Arlette’s original show attracted millions of fans, Netflix’s adaptation has not satisfied viewers.
On X (formerly Twitter), brutal critiques have been flooding in. "The Pop the Balloon show on Netflix is a joke. It's a complete waste of time," blasted one disappointed viewer.
Some subscribers confessed to turning off the show within minutes of starting it. One critic stated: "15 minutes into Netflix's version of Pop the Balloon, and let's just say I popped the balloon."

Another was quick to join in, writing, " I turned on Netflix's Pop the Balloon challenge... turned it off after 5 minutes. WTF was that?"
Another viewer continued to express disappointment, saying, "The Netflix Pop the Balloon is a bore fest. They should have left it alone."
Someone even relayed a friend's advice: "My friend just told me don't waste my time with that Pop the Balloon nonsense on Netflix."

Despite the array of negative comments, there's a glimpse of optimism, with some believing the series could pick up in the coming weeks.
Another fan offered an optimistic commentary: "Lmaoooo, I watched Pop the Balloon on Netflix to see why everyone was tripping. It's not that bad. They can get better, but it's okay for a start ngl [not going to lie]."
Pop the Balloon Live streams every Thursday on Netflix.
