Princess Diana 'would have stopped royal family feud,' former bodyguard reveals
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer close with the royal family after spending years apart, but that could have all been different thanks to Princess Diana
Princess Diana could have put an end to the royal family feud by sharing a warning to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to her former bodyguard.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer have a relationship with the royals after leaving their senior positions five years ago. Tensions grew following the release of their bombshell Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, in which they made a number of shocking allegations about the royal family.
With no end to the feud in sight, Diana's ex bodyguard Ken Wharfe has admitted he believes she would have been the key to mending the relationship between the Sussexes and the royals.
Ken worked for Diana and her family for 13 years before her untimely death in 1997. He explained how Diana would have encouraged her son to think twice before turning his back on the royal family.
"I think she would have told Harry and Meghan to give royal life a chance and that he was being a bit premature," Ken told The Sun. He added, "I think he would have listened and if that had been the case they could well have been a different outcome to this."
While Ken believes Diana would have encouraged Harry and Meghan to reconsider royal life, he admitted she would have "understood" why they wanted to leave. The couple relocated to America after stepping down as senior royals.
"One thing's for certain, Diana would have understood perhaps why the Sussexes would want a different life," Ken explained. "Diana herself had often talked about a different way of life but didn't (go through with it) because of her loyalty to the Queen and the country."
Harry and Meghan's relationship with the royals crumbled after they issued a number of attacks in their Netflix show. Harry further slammed his family in his memoir, Spare.
In the book, the Duke of Sussex opened up about an explosive row he had with his brother William, during which the Prince of Wales allegedly called Harry's wife "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive". Harry claimed his brother then "grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor."
