Android 15 budget phones will soon perform faster thanks to these upgrades.

Android phones running on version 15 and the upcoming 16 version will be getting major changes as Google demands phone makers to upgrade their hardware. Android phones have become powerful and the company wants the budget series to get better and offer more features, maybe AI one day as well.

These new changes are part of the Google Mobile Services (GMS) policy that is regularly upgraded based on the demands of the new Android versions in the market. Google is also bringing new AI features and more OS updates are being offered to the budget phones these days, so any bump in the RAM and storage will be welcomed.

New RAM And Storage Demands: What It Says

Android budget phones come with 2GB or 3GB RAM in the market but the Android 15 or 16 version devices in the coming months will need to come with at least 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM for the upcoming version from the company.

These changes are mostly applicable to the stock Android-running devices but custom UI brands like Samsung and Xiaomi are also free to make these upgrades but not mandatory for them.

That’s not all, besides the new RAM limit, Google wants these phones to come with a minimum of 32GB storage out of which 75 percent should be available for the system apps, system files, and other files. Earlier, Google was happy for phones to come with 16GB storage but that will change for the Android 15 phones to launch in the market from here on.

So why is Google making these demands? The company knows that a majority of its phones are sold in the budget segment and the experience of the devices start degrading because of their low RAM and storage support.

If brands are encouraged to upgrade their hardware, people will get a better Android experience from these affordable devices and let them run for more years. We have already seen the premium and some mid-range phones now offered 7 years and 6 years OS support, respectively. And Google could eventually make these upgrades possible for more phones in near future.
