Inside Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Private PDA: They Do ‘Show Affection to Each Other’
For more than two decades, Jack Stooks worked as a senior gardener at King Charles III’s Highgrove estate. But the reigning monarch wasn’t the only royal family member he became well-acquainted with during his tenure in Gloucestershire, England.
In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, the former staffer reveals he “got to know” Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, on a personal level as well. “They were very down-to-earth and lovely,” he shares. “They were always really polite, kind, caring and really fun.”
Now, Jack is offering a closer peek at what life behind closed doors with the Prince and Princess of Wales is truly like — from how they get their hands dirty in the kitchen to the pair’s private displays of affection.

“You see people on TV and that’s sort of the closest you normally get to them,” notes Jack, who spoke to Life & Style on behalf of online casino Fruity King. “So, it’s quite something to go and work with these people and actually meet them face to face and have like completely normal conversations with them. The longer you are there, it just becomes normal; they’re just people.”
In 2022, William, 42, and Kate, 43, relocated kids Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, from Kensington Palace to the more modest Adelaide Cottage, which boasts just four bedrooms.

“We are in Windsor at the moment,” Kate reportedly said during a March event, confirming the family currently reside full-time in the English countryside. “We were in London but moved there for more green space.”
Kate Middleton’s Love for Gardening Brought Her and Prince William Even Closer
While the children have more of an opportunity to run and play outside, their mom gets the chance to flex her green thumb. “Her love for gardening is very clear,” says Jack, hinting that she may have also influenced William to pick up the hobby. “I’m sure now because Kate loves her gardening, he does too.”
Indeed, 14 years after the world watched William and Kate walk out of Westminster Abbey as a married couple, the pair are still very much in sync. “They do tend to get on very well with each other,” dishes Jack. “William will often put his arm around her, they do hold hands and show affection to each other. They’re quite good at being there for each other.”

That’s true in sickness and in health. Last year, William was staunchly by Kate’s side as she battled cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy, she is now in remission — and presumably able to get back to doing the things she loves around the house.
“Kate does enjoy cooking,” says Jack, pointing out that the “modern-day” princess and her husband aren’t only interested in feeding their kids. “They definitely have dinner parties for friends and family!”
Though he no longer sees them on a regular basis, Jack — who still pitches in at the Duchy Home Farm, which William recently inherited from 76-year-old Charles — will always look back on his time with the future king and queen fondly. “I miss being able to [catch up with them]. I really like the family,” he tells Life & Style. “I really like how they are as people.”
