TRILLA, Ill. (WSIL) -- A small single-engine plane crashed near Mattoon, Illinois, on Saturday. The crash happened on County Road 1400 N in Trilla, Illinois (Coles County) on April 19, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., according to Illinois State Police (ISP).
ISP reported there were four occupants in the plane at the time of the crash. All four were from Menomonie, Wisconsin, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Coles County coroner confirmed the following identifications:
- Ross R. Nelson, 46-year-old male from Menomonie, WI
- Raimi A. Rundle, 45-year-old female from Menomonie, WI
- Courtney L. Morrow, 36-year-old female from Menomonie, WI
- Michael H. Morrow, 48-year-old male from Menomonie, WI
Authorities reopened the roadway at around 5 p.m. on April 20. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated the aircraft struck some powerlines and then crashed in a field.
Both the FAA and the NTSB said a Cessna C180G airplane was involved in the crash.
