5 Rivers welcome center

The welcome center of 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center in Spanish Fort.

After placing the high bid for 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center last week, the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) aims to transform the Spanish Fort nature park into “a high-quality place” with new money and by replicating elements of its Millbrook preserve.

A representative of the conservation nonprofit established in 1935 was the only person in 5 Rivers’ Tensaw Theater on Thursday morning, April 17, to raise his hand when Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) State Lands Director Patricia McCurdy opened bidding for the 70-acre property off the U.S. Highway 98 Causeway.
