The Clippers wanted to build their own venue to create their own domain where they can establish a decided home-court advantage. It wasn’t that Clippers fans didn’t fill up Crypto.com Arena in droves for big games but the club was the third tenant in the building behind the Lakers and NHL’s Kings, hence Saturday and Sunday afternoon games so the top two tenants could fill the night slot.
That is no longer an issue. The Clippers made their playoff debut Thursday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., and ran away with a 117-83 win over the Nuggets to take a two games to one lead in the best-of-seven series. The Clippers are perhaps the biggest threat to the Thunder in the Western Conference and they are likely to meet in the conference semis.
