Will Turkey Replace America?

In the wake of America’s abandonment of Europe, the EU needs a new partner.

You’re on your own!

Since the start of United States President Donald Trump’s second term, that has been his message to Europe. The European Union, which has relied on U.S. military and economic aid for decades, now finds itself essentially cut off from America.

In light of this, Europe is looking to become more independent by increasing its own defense production, spending and buying European.

However, Europe cannot achieve the status it seeks on its own. America’s exit is a major hit to EU capabilities, and the Continent will need outside help to be a major player in global politics.

Fortunately for Europe, it seems the perfect candidate is right next door.

Many analysts believe Turkey is a promising alternative supplier. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan even said this at a March 3 address attended by EU representatives: “Without including Turkey, it’s becoming increasingly impossible for Europe to continue being a global actor. To put it plainly, establishing European security without Turkey is inconceivable.”

On March 13, Deutsche Welle published a video titled “Is Turkey the Key to Europe’s Security?” In this report, the German source cited several factors showing how President Trump’s actions may cause greater Euro-Turkish unification.

Firstly, Turkey has the second-largest standing army in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization—behind the U.S. nato estimates that Turkey currently has about a half-million military personnel, and Globalfirepower.com ranks the Turkish military as the ninth strongest in the world. In addition, Turkey’s troops are seen as more battle-ready than other nations’ because of their experience in battlegrounds like Iraq, Libya and Syria. It seems Turkey may be Europe’s best alternative to America when it comes to military strength.

Another major factor making Turkey a compelling candidate to replace the void America has left is its geography. First, its proximity to the Middle East is attractive to a Continent with strong interests there. Germany used this to its advantage recently by giving Turkey the aid it needed to help overthrow former Syrian dictator Bashar Assad. Second, Turkey is in a great position to keep a check on both Russia and Iran. It controls the Dardanelles, an essential passageway that gives Russia access to the Mediterranean. And since Syria’s fall, Turkey has the ability to essentially cut off Russia from Africa. Turkey’s location also gives it similar checks on Iran.

One could claim that Turkey’s recent ties with Russia and Iran nullify this factor. But Turkey is known to switch sides whenever it seems advantageous. In addition, Turkey is already beginning to move away from Russia and Iran toward Europe. Turkey has long sought full membership in the EU. It has even indicated it may be willing to put boots on the ground in Ukraine—against Russia—if it means full membership in the EU.

Another reason Europe may look to Turkey is that Turkey is a major and growing arms exporter. Its arms exports rose to $7 billion last year. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute ranked Turkey as the world’s 11th-largest arms exporter from 2020 to 2024.

Another factor Deutsche Welle cited in its report was the economic value Turkey could bring Europe. President Trump hit Turkey with a relatively low 10 percent tariff. In addition, Turkey has a significant network of free-trade agreements worldwide. This makes sending goods through Turkey cheaper than other nations.

Nations are already taking advantage of this. In an interview with Russian news agency tass, a source in Turkey’s financial sector said nations are avoiding higher prices elsewhere by rerouting their supply chains through Turkey:

We are currently seeing the positive prospects for this new U.S. trade policy. The fact is that such measures of the American administration will affect logistics, international supply chains. A significant part of them will be redirected to Turkey.

Turkish Vice President Jevdet Yilmaz also recognizes that the world is moving toward protectionism, each nation more blatantly pursuing its own interests. He says this global trend is more beneficial for Turkey than for most and that the situation is an opportunity to establish itself as an intermediary trading hub, connecting the East and the West. He said:

We see that the international economic order is transforming. The decisions made by U.S. President Donald Trump are very important, and we need to closely monitor the actions of other countries. Raising duties will force countries selling goods to the U.S. market to aggressively enter other markets, and we should take care of this. So the duties announced by Trump are relatively beneficial for Turkey.

Turkey may be Europe’s best candidate to replace America. For those familiar with the Trumpet, this is no surprise.

The Trumpet and its predecessor, the Plain Truth, have forecast an alliance between Europe and Turkey for decades—even when Turkey was firmly in the Russian-Iranian camp. That is because this alliance was prophesied in the Bible.

Psalm 83 prophesies of a major military alliance to come very soon. Verses 6-8 list the countries that will join this coalition, including Edom and Assur. Secular sources prove that Edom is modern-day Turkey and Assur is modern-day Germany, the nation prophesied to lead the European power bloc.

These two nations will be allied in the near future. Psalm 83 is a prophecy for the end time because the peoples listed in its prophesied alliance have never allied before. The fact that Turkey is mentioned first in this list may prove significant.

The psalm’s introductory verses show that this brutal alliance will be formed to destroy Israel, Britain and the U.S. (as proved in our free booklet The King of the South). The growing Euro-Turkish alliance is a sign that the collapse of these three nations is almost here. President Trump may think he is saving America by waging his trade war, but he is actually setting the stage for America’s fall.
