LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The coming college basketball season will get started with a bang in the Bluegrass.
The annual rivalry game between Kentucky and Louisville has been set for Nov. 11 in the KFC Yum Center — the earliest regular-season meeting in the rivalry's history, and the earliest the teams have met since 1993.
The teams had settled into a pattern of December meetings over the past decade-plus.
Both are expected to enter the season with high expectations, and both are in the top 10 of ESPN's "Way Too Early" top 25. Louisville returns a solid core with a highly ranked portal class and a freshman point guard who ranks among the top 10 players of the current high school class.
Louisville coach Pat Kelsey has the No. 3 portal class and the No. 12 overall class according to 247 Sports.
Kentucky's Mark Pope has the No. 4 transfer class and No. 4 overall class.
