With Memorial Day right around the corner, organizers are getting ready to host the 105th annual Corvallis Memorial Day Parade.

This year’s theme: “Vietnam War Commemoration: Honoring all who served from 1955-1975”, this year is the 50th commemoration of the Vietnam War coming to an end.

The Corvallis American Legion Post #91 is putting together the parade on Memorial Day, Monday May 26th beginning at 10am.

The parade will feature reoccurring floats, including the grand marshal’s jeep, a jeep platoon with other parade VIPs, the Stevensville post #94 Veteran’s float, legion riders, and more. The community band will perform the national anthem following the cannon fire at 10:00 a.m. to signal the start of the parade.

“It is probably one of the biggest parades in the state, it is the longest running, 105 years, it was started by when the World War 1 guys came back from World War 1, and they walked down a dirt road that was main street Corvallis, and that was the beginning of it,” said Doug Mason, the Chairman of the parade.

A memorial ceremony at Corvallis cemetery will follow at 12:00 p.m. after the parade, to honor those who lost their lives.
