MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - 2nd Chance Ranch and Rescue got a huge boost from the community on Saturday, hosting an exotic petting zoo to raise funds to recover from severe weather.

“We live and die by community support,” 2nd Chance Ranch owner Signa Perry said. “We hope events like this can help us keep going well into the future.”

The event featured animals from across the world, along with food trucks, pony rides, and a turtle exhibit.

“It’s so great to build the community like this,” Kayleigh McBride, who owned one of the horses in the pony ride experience, said. “Plus, the horses love the socializing. It’s great for them.”

The petting zoo took place on a donor’s home, and they hope have events like this monthly.
