A popular Isle of Wight zoo and a nearby pub will be closed for part of the day on Monday (May 12) due to a planned power cut in the Hale Common area.

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) is carrying out essential maintenance work on overhead power lines, prompting several businesses to adjust their opening hours.

Amazon World Zoo Park has confirmed it will shut its doors for the entire day.

A spokesperson for the zoo said: “Unfortunately, due to a pre-planned power outage in our area, the whole zoo, including soft play, will be closed all day on Monday, May 12.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
