Colombian singer Shakira continues to break records and surpass each of the previous milestones of an artistic career that was already overwhelming. The artist's spring is flourishing at levels never seen before. Her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour' has become the highest-grossing live music performance in history in a March, according to Billboard Boxscore.
All this has been made possible thanks to her time in Mexico, where Shakira starred in the country's biggest shows in recent years. The Barranquilla native performed seven concerts at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City which were attended by almost 400,000 people and reportedly earned her around $46.6 million.
Now, Shakira is preparing to continue her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour' in the United States and Canada, where she will also make history starting May 13, when she will perform at the Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte. The singer and songwriter born on February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla will offer more than a fortnight of concerts until June 30, when she will perform at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
However, Shakira is preparing to continue making history. It has been 20 years since 'Hips Don't Lie' was released, which is still her most streamed song on Spotify. The hit was part of her album 'Oral Fixation Vol. 2' and became her first full-length work recorded entirely in English. To commemorate this anniversary, and to announce the start of her tour, the Barranquilla-born singer performed the song live on 'The Tonight Show', the late-night show that has been broadcast on NBC since 1954 and is currently hosted by Jimmy Fallon from New York.
Shakira was already a global star when, two decades ago, she released 'Hips Don't Lie' with Wylcef Jean, but after her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour', the 48-year-old artist will enter the pantheon of the most important stars in the history of music.
