A "multi-vehicle crash" closed the M48 Severn Bridge westbound, with the traffic being held eastbound as emergency services are being called to the scene. The bridge was closed for several hours.
A spokesperson for Traffic Wales said: " Warning - Collision on M48 Severn Bridge eastbound. Traffic is currently on stop as emergency services are at the scene."

The bridge has now reopened
The M48 Severn Bridge has reopened according to a post shared on The Severn Bridges X feed. The bridge has reopened in both directions between J2 (Chepstow) and J1 (Aust) following an earlier multi-vehicle crash.
Traffic now easing
The traffic is reportedly easing following the earlier accident. It has also been confirmed that traffics has been released on the eastbound carriageway. Lane 1 remains closed.
Bridge remains closed
The bridge remains closed as the vehicles involved in the crash are being recovered. Traffic is being diverted over the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge which is reportedly congested.
Bridge closes in both directions
The National Highways website says the bridge has now closed both eastbound and westbound.
A witness says emergency services are arriving, including police and ambulance.
Multiple vehicles involved
National Highways has confirmed that multiple vehicles are involved and emergency services are on their way to the scene.
A spokesperson said: "The M48 Severn Bridge is closed westbound between J2 (Chepstow) and J1 (Aust) due to a multi-vehicle collision. Traffic is stopped on the eastbound carriageway. Emergency services are in attendance. More information to follow soon. Thank you for your patience."
