Bucking conventional wisdom, a controversial text has surfaced suggesting that Jesus Christ may have wed Mary Magdalene, a woman historically cast as a prostitute, and fathered two children with her. The contentious manuscript was uncovered in the British Library, dating back nearly 1,500 years.

Dubbed the "Lost Gospel," this document—translated from its original Aramaic—presents explosive new claims, as reported by The Sunday Times.

Despite numerous scholars minimizing Mary Magdalene's role in biblical history, translators of the "Lost Gospel" argue she played a pivotal role, far surpassing initial interpretations.

Professor Barrie Wilson and author Simcha Jacobovic devoted extensive time to translating the ancient text, boldly declaring it confirms Jesus fathered two children, contending that the 'true' Virgin Mary was actually his spouse rather than his mother.

Mary Magdalene's story is entwined throughout existing gospels; she witnessed essential events in Jesus's narrative. "The Lost Gospel" adds fuel to the persistent speculation of a marital bond between her and Jesus, though it isn't the first tome to do so, reports the Express.

Notably, Nikos Kazantzakis in "The Last Temptation of Christ" (1953) and Dan Brown's contemporary hit "The Da Vinci Code" broached similar allegations about the relationship between Jesus and Magdalene.

As depicted in the four canonical gospels, Mary Magdalene is portrayed as a devoted adherent of Jesus, accompanying him throughout his ministry.

It is also thought that Mary Magdalene witnessed Jesus' crucifixion and subsequent resurrection. She is mentioned by name in the canonical gospels more than a dozen times, surpassing most of the apostles.

The majority of secular historians agree that Mary Magdalene, like Jesus, was a real historical figure.

She is mentioned more frequently in the gospels than any other woman, excluding Jesus' family members. Mary Magdalene is revered as a saint by the Catholic, Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, and Lutheran denominations.

In 2016, Pope Francis elevated her liturgical commemoration on July 22 from a memorial to a feast, and conferred upon her the title of "Apostle of the apostles". Some Protestant churches honor her as a heroine of faith, while the Eastern Orthodox Church observes the Sunday of the Myrrhbearers in her memory.

In Roman Catholicism, the Counter-Reformation added the description "penitent" to her feast day.
