This Saturday, a local organization is set to hold a seven-performer rave on a rooftop in downtown Fort Myers, which will also double as an album release party.
Nightmare Productions, which holds multi-genre events in the Southwest Florida local music scene, is bringing electronic music to the forefront with this event at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.
Performing are 80sRetro, Lovemikai, Dethkitty, Ezmeh, Dotmkv, Helheim and Jstarwalker. Doors open at 7 p.m., and music starts at 8 p.m.

Jstarwalker, a local alternative rap and electroclash artist, is hosting the event to debut his new album, "Heart-lined Circuits," but also to bring more awareness to the electronic music genre in none other than the heart of the city.
“I just think that there are so many talented individuals that are outside of acoustic music,” he said. "There are amazing DJs and amazing producers who are amazing at creating digital music."
He calls "Heart-lined Circuits" a passion project.
"My album is something that I've been working on for a while now. Some of the songs on there, I made last year, and I'm finally getting to release them officially," he said.
With this event he wants to showcase the diversity of the Southwest Florida local scene.

"I think this would be a perfect idea a perfect way to do that, to kind of shed light on the electronic side of the local music community," Jstarwalker said.
They will be throwing the event on top of the Sidney & Berne, which is a popular hub for art in many forms. The rooftop overlooks the city, a place where many of the people in this scene grew up.
Jstarwalker said that it is a dream to host the event at this location.
“I think Sidney & Berne is an amazing venue," he said. "It's a beautiful venue, and everybody that's going has pretty much grown up here their whole life, and they see it every day. I never would have thought I would ever be able to perform there, and here I am, throwing my own personal event there. Being able to perform overlooking the scene of our city, overlooking the Fort Myers skyline, is just an awesome, surreal feeling."

Electronic music is popular in the local scene, and because of its accessibility, Jstarwalker said it will inevitably see more growth in the future.
“I think it's so easy for people to experiment with electronic music that I can see it being a more common thing, especially here in this area,” he said.
While embracing the classical music genres, Jstarwalker said there should be a place for electronic music.
“I feel like Fort Myers has been very focused on acoustic music, rock music, punk music, metal music, that sometimes it kind of leaves it behind -- the electronic community," he said. "I think that now, with how technology is and how music technology is always evolving, how easy it is to access online resources to make music, electronic music will be something that's more common for people to make. I was able to start making electronic music when I was 15 years old, so if a 15-year-old can access it, so can anybody else."
Jstarwalker will be debuting his new album at the event, which he said builds on more emotion than his prior album, "EX-CAALIBUR."

“A lot of the music I have on here is based not only on my real experiences, but also my emotions. I've always kind of made music on emotion, but this one's a little different just because I kind of relay them, all real things that happened to me,” he said.
For this event, he is looking forward to seeing other artists in this genre express themselves.
“There's not a huge scene for what we're doing down here, and I think being able to see other artists alongside myself shine and showcase their talent and creativity that hasn't even been heard before in a live setting [is what] I'm more excited for,” he said.
He is hoping that this event will inspire others to attend more events and expand their creative network in not just this medium but any other form of art.

“I'm hoping for good feedback from the local music community, and I think that this is a great pathway to other artists who are looking to become electronic creatives, especially within the age of technology and the internet and in the technology itself,” he said.
Tickets are $15. Buy pre-sale tickets here or at the door during the event.
