When you’re grabbing your Switch 2 later this week, do not remove the screen protector. Spotted by fan site NintendoSoup, the Switch 2’s European safety manual says that the screen has a “film layer designed to prevent fragments scattering in the event of damage.”
This sounds annoying, and since I have an original Switch, this is brand new to me; however, you might recognize this same warning from the Switch OLED, which also had the same film cover on the screen. It should also be noted that the film is almost imperceptible on the Switch OLED.
This warning seems bizarre from someone who reviews phones, as you’d only see it from phones with folding displays. However, this should help the Switch from cutting anyone since the film should stop it from breaking into millions of sharp pieces if it drops.
Another interesting warning is that Nintendo recommends you stick between temperatures of 5 and 35 degrees Celsius when using the Switch, which can be an issue for those of us living in the North. The Joy-Con controllers also have warnings about strapping it on your wrist to avoid throwing the controller at your TV.
